98 Degrees Singing “Circle of Life” Is the ’90s Throwback We Didn’t Know We Needed
By debbers on August 23, 2017 • No Comments

The greatest truth we’ll ever write is that “Circle of Life” from The Lion King is one of the most iconic songs of all time. It’s safe to say that any Disney fan gets emotional while hearing it. Watching The Lion King for the first time (and second time, and third time, etc.) remains one of our most enduring memories from the ‘90s.

Well, our ’90s-nostalgic hearts are about to get really fulfilled, because 98 Degrees (yes, that 98 Degrees!) has reunited to sing their very own rendition of “Circle of Life,” giving us the ’90s pop culture mashup of our collective dreams.

Watch this behind-the-scenes video of the band at the recording studio and get excited for what’s in store for all of us in our path unwinding:

We got the chance to talk to the members of 98 Degrees about their The Lion King memories, and how they feel about recording “Circle of Life,” and they were obviously all very excited!

Jeff Timmons remembers the first time he saw The Lion King “clear as day.”

“I went to the movie theater and saw it with a couple of my friends … I had just moved to LA and we were like, ‘Let’s go see a Disney movie.’”

Drew Lachey is happy to now share The Lion King with his family: “My kids still watch it. My daughter just did a theater camp, and she just did a song from The Lion King [the Broadway musical] at her theater camp. It never goes away, it’s always part of the conversation.”

“We’re really excited to be a part of this project and doing this song that was such a huge smash for Elton John, you know, one of his many smashes. Sort of come back later and try to put a fresh little twist on something that everybody knows and everybody loves,” shared Justin Jeffries.

And Nick Lachey shared: “Disney’s had so many iconic movies, The Lion King certainly being one of them … So we’re very very honored to be here today doing this.” Nick also added:

“Disney is better than anybody at this: when you hit it right the first time, it comes back around because quality’s quality, it’s a great movie, a great story, so many great themes, and great music.”

98 Degrees’ rendition of “Circle of Life” and its accompanying video will be released very soon, so keep checking back here for updates! We cannot wait to hear it!
