From the Jeff Timmons & Jordan Knight show Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Durty Nellies, Palatine, IL

Well, I guess to begin with, it's definitely been a few years since I've last seen Jeff or even 98° in concert. So, it's probably been at least 5 years or about that long since I saw 98°, so to find out that JEFF was performing solo (on small tour with Jordan Knight) was a surprise, but even bigger surprise when I found out he was performing at one of the most popular bar stages in my hometown! I grew up in Palatine, and He and Jordan were performing at the bar/stage in Palatine - so it was an extreme shocker to hear that 2 big singers were performing there. Yeah, it's been about 15 or so years since Jordan was in the huge music scene, but not too long ago for Jeff.

Anyway, the whole show started with 2 "openers" - more unknown people, the first group didn't have a record deal yet, and not really my sort of music, but weren't bad... The other recently signed (within the past 6 months) Justin James, and still not too fond of his music, but do like artists that are around the same music style. He possibly could have performed a whole lot better if he had a live band with him. His music was cross between Nick Carter's solo album and maybe Creed (the `Creed' with Scott Stapp). Now, Jeff was on, and did a fabulous job! It was one gal's birthday that was most likely a part of the bar somehow (works there, or something) or does something with Jeff's work, I'm not real sure. So he got her on stage and sang Happy Birthday to her (with the crowd of course). He needs to do Birthday Parties more often with his voice! He sang a few 98° songs, a few from his current album, and a couple of his upcoming album - all amazing. Afterwards, they said that they were going to wait to do Jeff's Meet & Greet until after Jordan performed, which upset me a bit because he had gotten done on stage around 11:15pm or so. And the schedule was for him to do the M&G after he performed.

Then Jordan was on, and did most of his set of NKOTB songs! A couple of his songs from his album, but mostly NKOTB songs. 12:15am came around and he was still on stage singing! Not too much to say about Jordan's performance, other than he had done a nice show - of what I watched. Since I had to work the next day, I had to get myself out of there. The place wasn't real crowded, and had gotten myself in the back of the place anyway, so it wasn't too hard to get out. It was between a 30 and 45 minute drive home for me that night, and wound up getting to sleep around 2:15am and being up and out of the house for work at 6:30 am - so just barely 4hrs of sleep that night!

Now, the Meet & Greet with Jeff. When I was getting myself out of there, I went up to security and asked if there was anyway if he could send someone to Jeff to get an autograph for me. So he took me outside and pointed up to Jeff, and said "he's right there, yell up to him." My voice didn't carry too much, so the security guard yelled up there to him louder for me and got Jeff's attention. I asked him if I could just have 2 minutes of his time for an autograph and maybe a picture. He said he couldn't come down, but I could come up to him. So, when I got upstairs, his crew opened the doors for me, and Jeff found his way thru the small crowd to me. The sweetest thing he had done was say "thanks for coming to the show" and gave me a kiss on the cheek and a huge hug! I didn't want to let go, but did anyway. I told him that I wish I could have stayed for the M&G after Jordan performs, but I had a 45 minute drive home and I'd be getting maybe 4hrs of sleep that night, so I had to get myself home. He even asked me if I'd be ok to drive home on my own - of course I wanted to tell him "no, could you drive me home" but said that I'd be fine getting home. :o) He signed my Tigger jacket (that's from Disney in Orlando) which I'll never wash again - and got a picture taken with him. I swear, that man is just the sweetest to allow a fan upstairs with minimal security. It seemed like none of them really were worried if I was a nutcase or something. I guess they thought I was being sweet enough to allow me to do that - plus it was a 21 and older show. And that was the end of the night. I thanked him again for letting me come upstairs and that I really appreciated it. He gave me another kiss on the cheek and another big hug. Ladies - He's got the softest face a man could have - and just the absolute sweetest! Those kids of his must be doin him some good - either them or his wife!
